I come from a visual design background, but the day I first learned about UX my eyes lit up. Don't get me wrong, I love doing cute things for Dribbble, but just that alone wouldn't fulfill me. Having tricky problems to solve is many times more exciting to me as it allows me to have a direct, positive impact on users' lives.
I started at Workshare as a UI designer, and a lot of things have changed since then. Last year was a milestone in my career. Workshare acquired Transact as a new product. I was chosen to be the UI designer for that incubator alongside a UX designer. We worked very hard to understand our users, their workflows, endless paper checklists and the productivity issue our product was promising to solve. Having meetings with our potential future customers and identifying their pains was an amazing experience.
After a few months, our UX design team moved on, and I've been doing most of the UX work for Transact. It's been hectic at times, but incredibly rewarding to say the least.
At work, I don't believe in set processes just for the sake of them. Each project is different and requires different approaches. That said, I also believe no good solution will come up without a lot of communication and feedback from different people within and outside your organisation.
When I am not working, I like playing around with illustrations (particularly icons), getting inspired on Dribbble, going to meetups, attending courses on Interaction.org or getting up to speed on the latest trends of the design world.
TL;DR – I am a digital product designer, with experience in converting complex problems into products people can connect with.
I love designing icons, illustrations and colourful things from time to time. You can see some of that below. Hope you enjoy it!
